With many years of top-level experience in both traditional and private tour management, we offer elite training to get you to the level top companies, including us, demand of our private tour guides. This includes eliminating your bad habits and training you how to be a friend and good host, one who cares about clients more than satisfying his or her own ego. It’s not about how you sound on a microphone or how many facts you can spout out. It’s about how you connect with your clients to create an unparalleled, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Don’t plan on taking online classes in your jammies in the comfort of your bedroom. Our lessons are held on-site, in person, with no coddling or fluffy frills. We’re not drill sergeants, but you will learn from us how the tour business operates and what is expected of you. The course also will take you on the road for multiple days of hands-on private guiding experience, instead of only lesson theory in a classroom.

What will you do if your tour bus breaks down? What if two clients get in a heated disagreement? What if a Negative Nellie is bringing down the group? Should you admit if you don’t know the answer to a question? What signs should you look for to be able to read a client’s mood? Can you be just as smooth on a private camping tour covered in dirt as you can on a luxury San Francisco city tour?

Looking For A Job As A Private Tour Guide?

Our Tour Guide Training School classes are held each February for 3 weeks and cost $899 per person, and there is no guarantee of New Group Guides employment after completion of the classes. That, of course, would depend on your enthusiasm, charm, ability to connect with people, how fast you learn, your sense of humor and other factors. However, we will set you up for success with to-the-point education on tour-guide management, with as little time spent in the classroom as possible.
