In San Francisco for 3 Days, 2 Nights
Our California Relocation Tour is designed for your new job candidates to feel comfortable in the Bay Area as if it were their hometown. Beginning with a luxury San Francisco tour, our professional guides go into the pertinent details of the Bay while not overloading your guests with droning-on speeches.
Imagine a first-time stroll across the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge or attending a Warriors game with Steph Curry draining 3’s; or dining at some of the best restaurants, from street food to Michelin-starred, in America – our goal is to sell your job candidates on moving to the Bay Area by showing them how diverse and attractive it is.
A large Bay Area company called us with a problem: They had trouble hiring top talent to work and live in the vicinity, with no reasonable amount of money looking to change potential employees’ minds. Altering their strategy, the firm’s HR representatives reached out to us to ask if we could show their potential new employees (and possibly their families) the advantages of living in the Bay Area from a local’s perspective. In other words, to leave them with the conviction that yes, San Francisco really is a great place to live and work, one they will thrive in and enjoy for years to come.
First, to tackle their recruiting problem in a new way, we needed to understand their potential employees and group size. In this instance, the corporation had a family of three to host, with the dad as the new hire, flying in for an office visit with his family – wife and daughter – as part of a longer California adventure. The company wanted to host the Bay Area portion of their vacation, to showcase where they would be moving to as a hiring present to the family. The weekend included a luxury hotel stay, great restaurants and a thorough understanding of San Francisco (even though the family was eventually moving closer to the corporate office, near San Jose), with our private guides as their California hosts.
Once we knew the big picture by speaking to both the company reps and the family, our guides pieced together a schedule. Their weekend would include time in San Francisco, a central, safe hotel location and recommendations for plenty of restaurants. During the weekend, we would visit San Francisco’s famous sights, including Lombard Street, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge, with Alcatraz and Muir Woods as additional attractions to see, especially since seeing the big trees was on their 12-year-old daughter’s bucket list. The family would then return to San Jose before flying to Los Angeles for the remainder of their California holiday.
Touching down at San Jose Airport (SJC) around 3 p.m. from Singapore, the family had agreed that having a flexible plan in place today to handle potential flight delays was the best strategy. In addition, our initial phone conversation revealed their preference for a laid-back holiday, steering clear of a tightly packed, drill sergeant style schedule. Our private guides understood what they meant, marking our first meetup with the family on the following morning, giving them time to unwind on arrival. In the meantime, we provided them with a local restaurant list and hotel suggestions to ensure a delightful and restful first night in downtown San Jose.
Today, we picked up the family for their weekend in San Francisco. The itinerary involved a scenic drive through Silicon Valley, featuring notable landmarks such as Googleplex and Steve Job’s storied garage, before reaching the city for their private San Francisco tour. Along the way, we spoke about potential neighborhoods where they could live (in two months, when they move), and even grabbed a coffee in downtown Woodside, an upscale Bay Area neighborhood, on our way.
After the family’s day of private San Francisco sightseeing, along with an exhilarating afternoon on Alcatraz to walk off their lunch, they were ready to check into their room at the historic Fairmont Hotel on the top of Nob Hill, a great place for a family to stay. After a jam-packed day, one that showed the best sights, they then unpacked to unwind before dinner.
The next day involved nature, with the family of three exploring the majestic redwood trees of Muir Woods. Setting out in the morning, we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge in our panoramic sunroof Mercedes-Benz as our guide briefed the family on the best possible easy, medium and difficult hiking routes. We also provided hiking supplies, such as sunscreen, Fiji waters, trekking poles and our homemade map. A fascinating tidbit: While the coastal redwoods are the tallest trees on the planet, their pinecones are only the size of olives.
On the journey back to San Jose, the family had one last spontaneous request to squeeze in – a brief exploration of the town of Los Gatos, one of the suburbs they were considering. They were intrigued with its positive reviews of year-round pleasant weather, along with its proximity to the Santa Cruz Mountains and the father’s new corporate headquarters. The couple also needed a coffee, a way to perk up after their seafood lunch.
For Our California Relocation Tour
Relocating to the Bay Area can be an intimidating task for a new family, especially given the rumors of San Francisco’s crime, drugs, homeless population and more (heard in hearsay by anyone not living under a rock). While there are many challenges to living in or visiting any large city, there are wonderful neighborhoods as well. Would you like your new employees to easily explore and discover the Bay Area’s great communities?
After the Singaporean family spent two full days with our private guides, we were proud to say they gained the comfort and confidence to relocate to California, with a better understanding of their soon-to-be Bay Area home.
